Scrapping4Charity 2014

I have just returned from a wonderful trip to Cape Town, where  I had the pleasure of teaching at a scrapbook event that raises monies for various charities.  This year the worthy benefiting charity is Echo who aim to enrich the lives of the Helderberg Basin community.

As teachers our flights and accommodation were paid for so I did not expect anymore and was pleasantly delighted that we were paid a teaching fee and spoilt rotten to boot.

Cathy and her helpers from Scrapcats did an amazing job and the packed weekend consisted of 3 classes on Saturday, a diva scrap & chat in the evening and 3 classes on Sunday.
My class was technique laden, something I had been specifically asked to do.  We had a very tight budget and I was very fortunate to have my page sponsored by Redscreen and I purchased most of my products from Linita Scrap Direct. The ladies received 12 sheets of paper, flowers, butterflies and pink bottle tops all from Scrap Direct. A scroll chippie from Scrap Collections, a variety of ribbons and  mini paper roses, muslin swabs and doilies, and a project album was included in the kit.

The techniques I covered included,
paper flowers,
paper layering,
up-cycling odd flowers with gesso and embossing
stencilling with texture paste
misting embellishments
I did not expect the ladies to finish my class but we did get through most of the techniques.  Many scrappers were placed outside of their comfort zone when they had to tear and scrunch paper but in the end they were happy with their creative accomplishments.
I will, over the course of the next  few weeks load individual tutorials of all the  page elements.

until next time, stay creative

I would love to join you in the future. I love using my craft to raise money for worthy causes.

The reason for the tight budget is to make the teachers think out of the box and get creative! Anyone can buy off the shelf, but not everyone can create a masterpiece out of very little. You did just that!
